This is our groups presentation that we both me and my Partner Mariana came up with. Our article was about how RedCross had launched campaigns on facebook, twitter, apple and google to raise donations to help Japan to recover from the natural disaster, that happened in March.

Websites launch a campaign to help Japan

My article was and concept in 15 in 15 topic. My article was explaining when Japan was hit by earthquake and by the tsunami. After 2 days later facebook, twitter, apple, and google were the one who launched a campaign on to their site. So basically what they were doing is asking people for donation and giving it to Japan. Well if we know what the earthquake and the tsunami cased Japan the damage of $1200 million dollars. Facebook has about 400 million people who are actively online this is only facebook. In this case if each member on facebook donates $1 they can raise about 40% but of course they would require more. So my article was a concept in this topic, this is relating to concept because there is not only one site there are a lot of sites, and because it is helping japan by asking or raising donation online. Asking donations online I much easier because now they do not have to go house by house to ask for donation, which saves them a lot of time and by asking them on very popular companies like facebook, google, twitter and apple there are more chances that they can raise very high donation and cover up the cost which was caused by the earthquake and the tsunami.

We know that now a days social networking and looking for things on the internet is now becoming more and more famous. As we know that now that google is becoming more and more famous. There are about 40, 000 people who are on google every minute and while facebook has about 45, 000 people who are online every minute. This is help Japan to recover economically too but according to the article the money will first go for their necessities for those who are impacted by the earthquake and tsunami. According to the statistics 4876 are injured, 13, 333 are dead, 15, 150 are still missing. The tsunami has impacted their health because of the radiation. The money donated will help them to recover. If we talk about advantages of for asking donations online is that more money can be raised in very less amount of time, and it also safe because there are very less money predator. In this case people already know who they are donating for so there are very less frauds. There are some very well known charities like Red Cross who are the ones who launched the campaign on those famous websites. One more advantages is that many people are connect to facebook, twitter, google, and apple when millions of people visit those sites everyday. People will donate because they know what is going on in the world. If there are some frauds they can be caught very easily because we have so advanced technology, their ip are traced and could be caught within matter of minutes. From what the article tells there cannot be disadvantages to this one because all the money predators can be caught easily.

There have been million of dollars have been raised for Japan. Although they are only American charities you can imagine if only US is raising that much how much are other countries are raising for Japan. It is interesting to know that that many people are online. I choose that article because I wanted people to know what there are a lot more people getting connected everyday. Although we did not get to do our presentation but it was interesting to research how technology can be used to ask for donation by a very popular organization. In raising donation online is very helpful and it can be easily transferred, very easily there is less chances that the money will go to an different or incorrect organization. It is because all the companies and have a registered and copyrighted trademark at the bottom of the page this makes the website more secure.
